Twitter has announced a partnership with Bloomberg to start a 24/7 rolling news service.
Editor’s Remarks: The new live video stream will appear on Twitter’s platform, consisting of exclusive programming as well as content made using Bloomberg’s feeds. The move is part of a push under CEO Jack Dorsey to tackle slowing user growth by making Twitter’s product more attractive, building on its addition of live video broadcasts – which performed well, reaching 45m viewers in Q1. Dorsey clearly backs himself on the change, revealing last week that he had bought almost $10m of new shares in Twitter. Markets seemed to share the sentiment, with the share price soaring to a near three month-high yesterday.
