The once dominant ANC looks set to lose major municipal seats to the Democratic Alliance.
Editor’s Remarks: The ruling ANC look to lose Johannesburg as well as Mandela Bay and Tshwane (Pretoria) to the Democratic Alliance (DA) after the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) decided to form a coalition with the DA. South African elections have previously been viewed as an easy win for the centrist party, ANC, which has dominated since 1994. However, South Africa looks set to become another two party nation with the DA winning important seats in this years municipal elections. South African politics will become a more intriguing prospect with greater competition and a stronger opposition. However both are centrist, so do not expect too much to change just yet.
What to watch: ANC, DA, EFF
