There are some fascinating observations from this chart. It is clear that both mothers and fathers spend more time on these three things combined than in 1965. Housework has gone down by about 8 hrs a week, to the benefit of childcare and work. Women still take care of the kids twice as much as men. The biggest takeaway is that the invention of affordable appliances and time-saving consumables has enabled women to spend more time doing things they want to do, like working and spending time with kids.
