Volkswagen Sued by German Firm

The carmaker faces a lawsuit from Deutsche See, a German fish distributor, for €11.9m.

Editor’s Remarks: The sum may be small fry in comparison to the billions that Volkswagen has had to pay out over the ‘Dieselgate’ scandal, but the case is important in that it is its first lawsuit from a major corporate client on home ground. The companies had failed to reach an out-of-court settlement over the 500 vehicles leased by Volkswagen, whose coffers and corporate image have both been hammered by the revelations in 2015 that it had been fitting its diesel cars with emissions test-cheating software.
