Uber and Volvo invest $300m to create driverless taxis.
Editor’s Remarks: Volvo has already begun to create technology which supports drivers in some of its vehicles. Tesla and Google have made much headway into turning it into a reality for consumers but with some safety concerns. However, Volvo’s and Uber’s partnership will join GM and Lyft in using taxis probably as a step to break into the general consumer market. Taxis are a unique place where consumer place their trust in an unknown driver to get them to their destination safely. Tapping into that trust and giving themselves an initial market to supply their vehicles to will help make the reality of driverless cars that much more possible.
What to watch: Volvo, Nissan, GM, Lyft, Uber
