Social Media Takes Over Elections

Platforms such as Google, Facebook and Twitter will all be providing unique election coverage and capitalise on the US election drama.

Editor’s Remarks: Video streaming and results reporting are a hot commodity over the course of election night in the US. Google looks set to lead the pack with its Youtube providing live streaming of news outlets like NBC, MTV and Bloomberg. It will also release instant results after polls have closed. Facebook will offer live video streaming to help cement the success of its streaming service as it has also partnered with many stations around America. It also supplies information pages for each candidate. As expected, Twitter is somewhat behind offering polling information and major updates. All are sharing a desire to get as many people to vote and register as possible. Their access to the younger demographic and encouragement to register may have a greater impact than many believe.
