Qatar’s $6.28bn UK Investment

The UK government announced the multi-billion investment pledge alongside a committee for post-Brexit trade deals with Gulf states.

Editor’s Remarks: Prime Minister Theresa May said that the British-Qatari relationship will be strengthened across several areas including energy, finance, defence and education, as the Gulf state’s Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser al-Thani revealed the $6.28bn of plans for investment across several parts of the UK, including Scotland. Though muted by news that a Japanese business lobby will issue a warning to May over her handling of Brexit negotiations, she will nonetheless be buoyed by the show of confidence in the British economy from Qatar, whose investment will mark an increase of more than 10% on what it has already invested in the UK.
