Employees in Luxembourreceiveve the highest average salary out of the 35 members who are part of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). According to information supplied by the OECD, the landlocked European nation, which has a population of just under 600,000, has an average salary of $62,636. The findings are based on purchasing power parity (PPP), a metric which bases itself on a basket of national consumer goods.
The US and Switzerland are close behind at just over $60,000, whilst the UK and France are both close to $43,000. Mexico is at the bottom of the list where average salaries are $15,000; a quarter of what workers in Luxembourg, the US and Switzerland would expect.
