Editor’s remarks:
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, promised to improve the economy and its corruption since ousting Goodluck Jonathan. However, since 2015, unemployment in Nigeria is rising and at a worryingly fast pace. Most of this can be blamed on the price of oil tanking last year and oil production being a cornerstone of Nigeria’s economy. Many are saying that Nigeria, despite tackling Boko Haram and other militant groups fairly effectively, is now worse off than it was before Buhari. However, it seems fair that Buhari’s administrative changes will show for nothing until oil prices rise again but then again, others will not see it that way.
