Unsurprisingly, the US is the number one country in the world when it comes to guns per capita, with an estimated 101 guns for every 100 American citizens. This statistic underlines just why the problem of gun crime in the US is on a scale that is otherwise unprecedented among other developed western economies. In fact, gun deaths are 25 times more likely in the US than in a collection of 22 other well-off nations. Significantly behind the US is Serbia with approximately 58 guns per 100 Serbians. In third and fifth place, respectively, are Yemen and Saudi Arabia, both of which are presently locked in a years-long conflict.
